Azure Policy Set (Initiative)

Azure Policy Sets (Initiative) is a feature that permits the grouping and categorization of several Azure policies into a single entity. It streamlines the administration and application of policies by offering an orderly and systematic method.

Rather than implementing individual policies separately, Azure Policy Sets allow you to establish a set of policies associated with a specific goal or situation. This could range from policies for a particular compliance standard, a set of policies for a specific application, or policies addressing a certain security issue.

By aggregating policies into sets, you can administer and allocate them as one unit. This facilitates the enforcement of a consistent set of regulations and standards across your Azure infrastructure. Azure Policy Sets employ a hierarchical structure, enabling you to establish dependencies and evaluation sequence amongst the policies within the set.

When a policy set is allocated, Azure Policy assesses each policy within the set and verifies compliance with the corresponding resources. If any policy within the set is not compliant, Azure Policy initiates the necessary actions, such as sending alerts or starting remediation.

Azure Policy Sets offer adaptability and scalability in policy management. They enable efficient organization and application of multiple policies, simplifying the enforcement of intricate governance requirements across your Azure subscriptions. It eases policy management, enhances resource compliance, and expedites the deployment of your organization’s policies and standards in Azure.
