Azure policy

Think of Azure Policy as a powerful tool, designed to help you manage your Azure cloud environment according to specific rules and guidelines. It acts as a control system for enforcing governance and compliance within your organization.

Imagine Azure Policy as a customized rulebook, specifically designed for your unique requirements. These rules, known as policies, specify what is allowed and what is not in your Azure environment. For example, you can create a policy that requires all virtual machines to be encrypted or one that prohibits the creation of specific Azure resources.

Once you’ve developed and applied a policy, Azure Policy continuously checks your resources and configurations for compliance with the rules you’ve set. If a resource violates a policy, Azure Policy takes corrective actions, such as automatically resolving the issue.

Azure Policy offers a centralized approach to manage and enforce governance across your Azure subscriptions. It guarantees consistency, security, and compliance by ensuring that resources adhere to standards, industry regulations, and best practices.

Using Azure Policy enables you to proactively address misconfigurations, improve security, and maintain control over your Azure environment. It provides assurance that your cloud resources align with your organization’s policies and meet the necessary compliance requirements.
